F30 Coding List: 7 E-Sys Tweaks With Exact Values
Start-stop off by default, digital speed, cornering fog lights and more: seven F30 E-Sys FDL tweaks with module, parameter and value, plus how to rescue a CAFD that died mid-write.
Most F30 coding lists give you a parameter name and leave you to work out the rest. This one has the module, the group, the parameter and the value for each tweak, as they were coded on a real F30 320i. There's also the story of a FEM_BODY write that died halfway, and how it came back.
Credits
Everything here comes from EugeneBRN22's post on drive2.ru, written in 2020 after coding a friend's F30 320i. The author knew E-series coding well and was new to the F-series, so the post doubles as a list of first-timer traps. We translated and rewrote it. Thanks to EugeneBRN22 for writing it all down.
Three Rules From That Post
Keep the engine running, or a strong charger on. The first FEM_BODY write was done on ignition only. The ignition switched off mid-write and the module's coding was gone (more on that below).
Parameters showing as dots instead of names? Your E-Sys or PSdZData is too old for the car. Updating both fixed it on this F30.
Save the original coding first. Right-click the CAFD and choose Read Coding Data before you change anything.
How to Make Each Change
- In E-Sys, read and activate the FA, then open Expert Mode → Coding and click Read SVT.
- Expand the module, right-click its CAFD and choose Read Coding Data.
- Right-click the CAFD again and choose Edit FDL. Find the parameter, change its value and save.
- Right-click the CAFD and choose Code FDL.
The List
| Tweak | Module | Group | Parameter | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Auto start-stop off by default | FEM_BODY | 3023 TcMaster2 | TCM_MSA_DEFAULT_OFF | aktiv |
| One-touch window close keeps going with the door open | FEM_BODY | 3050 Pw_Client | FH_TUERAUF_STOP_MAUT | nicht_aktiv |
| Front fog lights off while the high beam is on | FEM_BODY | 3060 LceMaster | NSW_AUS_BEI_FL | aktiv |
| Digital speed in the trip computer | KOMBI | 3000 Anzeige_Konfiguration | BC_DIGITAL_V | aktiv |
| Digital speed: turn off its correction | KOMBI | 3000 Anzeige_Konfiguration | BC_DIGITAL_V_KORREKTUR | nicht_aktiv |
| AUTO climate button doesn't switch on the A/C | IHKA | 3002 | AC_NICHT_EIN_BEI_AUTO | aktiv |
Cornering Fog Lights
The fog light on the side you're turning lights up. It only works with the light switch on AUTO. All six parameters are in FEM_BODY:
| Group | Parameter | Value |
|---|---|---|
| 3062 | MAPPING_abbiegel_L_output | nsw_l |
| 3062 | MAPPING_abbiegel_R_output | nsw_r |
| 3066 | KL_ENABLE_LI | KL_Ein |
| 3066 | KL_ENABLE_RE | KL_Ein |
| 3073 | C_BLC_ENA | F30enable |
| 3073 | C_CLC_ENA | F30enable |
On a different body, pick that body's value in group 3073 instead of F30enable.
Heated Seat and Steering Wheel Memory
This sets how long the car remembers that the heating was on after you switch off: 0, 15 minutes, 24 hours or always. For the seats, change NACHLAUFZEIT_SITZHEIZUNG_FRONT and NACHLAUFZEIT_SITZHEIZUNG_FOND in FEM_BODY group 3090.
The steering wheel is trickier. NACHLAUFZEIT_LENKRADHEIZUNG appears in two places in FEM_BODY, and the car only remembers the new setting if you change both. The post doesn't name the second group, so search the FEM_BODY coding for the parameter name.
When a Write Dies Halfway
When the ignition cut out mid-write, the FEM_BODY CAFD came back as CAFD_FFFFFFFF_255_255_255. That's a blank placeholder, so the module no longer has valid coding.
It sounds worse than it is. The author had it back in about three minutes by writing the module's own file from the PSdZData folder back to it. In E-Sys, the usual route is to right-click the module, choose Detect CAF for SWE, pick the newest CAFD and code the module. Then redo your FDL changes, this time with the engine running.
The attached one-page PDF has the whole list to keep next to your laptop. Need a laptop that won't drop the connection mid-write? See our coding laptop guide. More guides are under Coding, or I can do the coding remotely.
