F30 Coding Cheat Sheet: Halsifer's Reference Guide (PDF)
The F30/F32 coding cheat sheet downloaded over 270,000 times, attached as a PDF. How to read it, plus the most-wanted codes with module, group and value.
Ask about F30 coding on any forum and someone will point you to the cheat sheet. It's a 13-page PDF that collects the F30 and F32 codes from forums, PMs and older spreadsheets in one place, with module, section, value and default for each. Version 1.7 is attached to this post exactly as its author shared it. Below is how to read it, and the codes people look for first.
Credits
The cheat sheet is the work of Halsifer, who drove a 2014 335i xDrive at the time and posted it in the F30post thread Super Cheat Sheet - PDF Attached! in 2014. Tired of tiny spreadsheet text and codes scattered across threads, Halsifer collected everything into one readable document and kept updating it until July 2015. The attachment has been opened more than 270,000 times. Thanks to Halsifer, and to everyone whose finds ended up in it.
How to Read the Sheet
VO code first, FDL code after. The sheet says it at the top of both main sections, and it matters. VO coding puts a module back to its defaults, so any FDL change you made before is lost.
Values are in HEX. Speeds are km/h, times are seconds or hours, distances are metres, all written in hexadecimal. Some conversions from the sheet: 08 is 8, 1F is 31, 32 is 50, 64 is 100 and FF is 255.
The colours mean something. Blue rows were enabled and working on Halsifer's car. Yellow means read the note for that section first. Red marks a known issue.
It was written in 2014 and 2015, for the cars of that time. On a later car, search for the parameter name. If it isn't there, skip it.
Option Codes in the Sheet (VO Coding)
| Feature | FA change | VO code | Needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active high beam (anti-dazzle) | Remove 5AP | FEM_BODY and FLA or KAFAS2 | High beam assistant |
| Variable light distribution | Remove 8S4 | FEM_BODY | FLA/KAFAS camera |
| iDrive Office | Remove the country code that blocks it (SL8Ax) | CMB_MEDIA and the head unit | |
| Enhanced Bluetooth | 6NH to 6NK or 6NS | CMB_MEDIA and the head unit | A combox |
| Sport Automatic | 205 to 2TB | EGS, ICM and KOMBI |
We've written up the last two in detail: enhanced Bluetooth and Sport+ and Sport Automatic.
Lights
| What it does | Module · section | Parameter | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Angel eye brightness with headlights on | FEM_BODY · 3062 | MAPPING_STANDL_V_L_PWM_LEVEL_1 and _V_R_ | 32 (50%) |
| Fog lights as part of the welcome lights | FEM_BODY · 3063 | MAPPING_NEBELSCHW_L_PART_OF_WL and _R_ | Soft_On |
| Lane change flashes (default 3) | FEM_BODY · 3060 | BLINKZYKLEN_ANZAHL_TIPP | flashes minus one |
| Auto headlight sensitivity | FEM_BODY · 3130 | RLS_DEF_FLC_SCHWELLWERT_SATZ | empfindlich, sehr_empfindlich or unempfindlich |
| Door handle lights on in reverse | FEM_BODY · 3070 | OVT_BEI_RUECKFAHRLICHT | aktiv |
Angel eye brightness is a percentage in HEX: 19 is 25%, 32 is 50%, 64 is 100%. The default is 8. Halsifer noted it supposedly doesn't work on the F32.
Locking, Windows and Mirrors
| What it does | Module · section | Parameter | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hold unlock on the key to open the windows | FEM_BODY · 3053 | KOMFORTOEFFNUNG_FB | aktiv |
| Hold lock on the key to close the windows | FEM_BODY · 3053 | KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB | aktiv |
| Fold the mirrors when holding lock | FEM_BODY · 3110 | ASP_BEIKLAPPEN_BEI_KOMFORTSCHLIESSEN | aktiv |
| Unfold the mirrors on unlock | FEM_BODY · 3110 | ASP_AUSKLAPPEN_NACH_KOMFORTSCHLIESSEN | aktiv |
| Unlock all doors at ignition off (with auto-lock) | FEM_BODY · 3040 | CLM_UNLOCK_KL15OFF_AFTER_PIA_AUTO_LOCK | aktiv |
| Radio and navigation off when the driver's door opens | FEM_BODY · 3020 | TCM_LOGIC_R_OFF_DOOR | aktiv |
| Flashes when unlocking / locking | FEM_BODY · 3060 | QUITTBLK_ENTSCHAERFEN_ANZAHL / QUITTBLK_SICHERN_ANZAHL | flashes minus one |
| No tail light flash when the boot opens by Comfort Access | FEM_BODY · 3040 | CLM_SMO_INDICATOR | nicht_aktiv |
| A/C remembers being off | IHKA · 3002 | MEMORY_OFF | aktiv |
| Recirculation remembered | IHKA · 3003 | MEMORY_UMLUFT | aktiv |
| Seat moves back for easy entry | SM2 · 3000 | EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE | Modus_FA_SLV |
| Chime when a seat memory is stored | SM2 · 3000 | MEMORY_GONG | aktiv |
Two notes from the sheet. With MEMORY_OFF, some cars start with the A/C off every time. And if you raise the speed up to which the mirrors still fold (ASP_MAX_GESCHWINDIGKEIT_BEIKLAPPEN), the speed at which they unfold by themselves (ASP_GESCHWINDIGKEIT_AUTO_AUSKLAPPEN) has to be the same or higher.
Cluster and Driving
| What it does | Module · section | Parameter | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start-stop remembers your last setting | FEM_BODY · 3023 | TCM_MSA_MEMORY | aktiv |
| No "Auto Start-Stop off" message in the cluster | KOMBI · 3000 | MSA_VERFUEGBARANZEIGE_ENABLE | nicht_aktiv |
| Trip computer auto-reset time | KOMBI · 3000 | BC_AUTORESET_ZEIT | hours in HEX, FF = never |
| M Performance logo at start-up | KOMBI · 3000 | BMW_LOGO | mpm |
| Sport mode set up in iDrive | HU_NBT · 3000 and ICM · 3000 | Macro_fds and ICMKOD_B_SPORTINDIVIDUALISIERBAR | popup_and_config and ein (01) |
| Chime when you select reverse | KOMBI · 3000 | R_GANG_AKUSTIK_ENABLE | aktiv |
The sheet warns that the M Performance logo shows "M550d" on cars with newer software. Halsifer's own verdict on the reverse chime was "very annoying". Start-stop off by default and the digital speed readout are in our F30 coding list.
iDrive
| What it does | Module · section | Parameter | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| No disclaimer at start-up | HU_CIC or HU_NBT · 3001 | LEGAL_DISCLAIMER_TIME | kein_ld |
| No disclaimer for the cameras and PDC | HU_CIC or HU_NBT · 3001 | MACRO_CAM_LEGALDISCLAIMER | kein_ld |
| Volume level shown on screen | HU_NBT · 3000 | VOLUME_POPUP_DISPLAY | aktiv |
| Turn-by-turn route list | HU_NBT · 3000 | NAVI_ROAD_PREVIEW | aktiv |
| Red and silver sport displays | HU_NBT · 3000 | M_VEHICLE | activ |
| M start-up animation | HU_NBT · 3001 | STARTUP_EMBLEM | variant_1 (the M logo) |
Other start-up emblems in the sheet: variant_3 is BMW i, variant_4 Mini, variant_5 Rolls-Royce and variant_9 a Christmas greeting.
Heated Seat Temperatures
This one is a nice find. Each heated seat level is a temperature you can change in FEM_BODY, section 3090, for the backrest and the cushion separately (TEMP_LEHNE_STUFE_1_FRONT, TEMP_SITZ_STUFE_1_FRONT and so on). The value is (temperature in °C + 40) × 2, written in HEX. Halsifer wanted 41 °C: 41 + 40 = 81, times 2 is 162, which is A2.
The Last Page
The sheet ends with codes nobody had confirmed yet, like closing the sunroof when it starts raining, and codes that did nothing on an F30, like turn signals in the head-up display. Read it before you spend an evening on one of those.
The full guide is attached to this post. New to the routine? Our coding laptop guide gets the laptop ready, and if E-Sys can't find a module's coding file, see CAFD not found. Or I can do the coding remotely.
